 The Great Indian Desert, Thar desert, lies between the Aravali Hills in the northeast region and extends to Punjab and Haryana in the north. It reaches the Rann of Kutch on the western coast and the alluvial plains of the Indus River in the northwest region.

Climate of Thar Desert

The climate of the Thar desert is mostly arid and subtropical. Also, the Temperature can vary greatly, sometimes dropping below freezing point in winter and soaring above 50°C in summer. It is cool during the night and hot during the daytime as sand can turn cool and hot very quickly. Talking about the precipitation, most of the rain falls between June and September in that region. So, The perfect time to visit the Thar desert is during the sunsets and sunrises to see the captivating beauty of the landscape.

The Thar is a habitat for 141 species of migratory and resident birds which adds colour and melody to its desert charm. Additionally, It is home to 23 species of lizards and 25 species of snakes, which showcases its rich biodiversity.

This region is a hotspot for 141 types of birds that either live there or visit during their migration. There are also 23 kinds of lizards and 25 types of snakes that are found only in this area.

Jaisalmer, often called “Jay-sal-mur,” is a remarkable city in Rajasthan, India. It is also known as “The Golden City”. It is about 575 kilometres (or 357 miles) west of Jaipur, which covers a large chunk of the capital city of Rajasthan.

One of the things that you cannot miss about Jaisalmer is its unique and antique forts. They are called the Jaisalmer Forts which are ancient. You will also find a royal palace and lots of fancy Jain temples there and these buildings are made of golden sandstone only. Despite the sandy landscape, It is home to around 78,000 people which includes folks who live within the fort itself.
